SPEECHES

Last Friday the Taranaki Syndicate had their speech competition. Mikaere and Ela represented Room 14 and made us very proud. Mikaere spoke about buying NZ made products and Ela talked about the Olympics being every 4 years. Well done guys!!
Also a big thanks to our judges Mr Mischewski, Mrs Ballantye and Mrs Ballard.

Our Finished Masks

On the last day of school we went back to the Art Studio to finish our masks. We had to paint them totally gold and then add the detail. We had to work as fast as we could (even using hair dryers to get the paint to dry!) but as you can see in the end our masks turned out really well.

Art Gallery

Yesterday we went on a trip to the Tauranga Art Gallery and the Tauranga Public Library. We were at the library first and we learnt heaps about different areas of the library. The ladies showed us some amazing pop up books and a book called "Zoom" which was different to other books we have looked at.

Next we went to the Art Gallery where we looked at sculptures and tried to interpret artists messages in their work. We got to do our own art to and created some great abstract art work that we have bought back to class.

The other thing we looked at was a display called Big Red. This was done by an artist in Hamilton and we were able to walk through it to experience what it felt like.

We had an awesome day. Thank you to the staff at the Art Gallery and Library.
