OLYMPIC DAY

On the 8th of August Greenpark had their Olympic Day Parade. Room 14 was representing Germany. We had a lot of fun painting our faces, making our flags and dressing in the colours of the German Flag. The whole parade was outstanding with every class looking amazing.

TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE

The Taranaki Syndicate have begun to do a technology challenge every second Friday as part of our topic. This time we had to design a rain coat out of 6 plastic bags, 1 pair of scissors and 2 metres of cellotape. We had a lot of fun designing in groups. Next we had to walk the catwalk in our rain coats. Once one from each class was chosen Mr Dickie got to test them with the fire hose!!!

Room 14 won the first technology challenge with this great design by Katarina, Emma, Kaitlyn, Madison, Alyse and Nicola. Well done guys!

GYMNASTICS

Room 14 has jsut finished their Gymnastics for this term. We went to the hall each day and completed a rotation learning all about balance, tramoline, floor routines and other fun activities.

We loved gymnastics and would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Mrs Pearce who made sure we learnt as much as possible about gymnastics in the short time we had.

Our Finished Masks

On the last day of school we went back to the Art Studio to finish our masks. We had to paint them totally gold and then add the detail. We had to work as fast as we could (even using hair dryers to get the paint to dry!) but as you can see in the end our masks turned out really well.

Art Gallery

Yesterday we went on a trip to the Tauranga Art Gallery and the Tauranga Public Library. We were at the library first and we learnt heaps about different areas of the library. The ladies showed us some amazing pop up books and a book called "Zoom" which was different to other books we have looked at.

Next we went to the Art Gallery where we looked at sculptures and tried to interpret artists messages in their work. We got to do our own art to and created some great abstract art work that we have bought back to class.

The other thing we looked at was a display called Big Red. This was done by an artist in Hamilton and we were able to walk through it to experience what it felt like.

We had an awesome day. Thank you to the staff at the Art Gallery and Library.

Masks

We went to the art suite and made Egyptain masks in groups. We had to use the line of symmetry to help us make it the same on each side. We used newspaper and pva glue that had been soaked for 2 days to make our masks 3D.

We will put pictures of our completed masks on our blog next week.
